Kōpū Marine Precinct
The Coromandel's Premier Commercial Marine Repair & Refit FacilityHaul-Out Vessels up to 100 Tons
Expert Engineers & boatbuilders on-site
Convenient to Auckland and the Coromandel
Located in Kōpū, Waikato, at the southern end of the Firth of Thames, the Kōpū Marine Precinct has rapidly become one of New Zealand's leading destinations for marine servicing, vessel repairs and commercial refit projects.
Only around 50 nautical miles from Auckland by sea, the precinct provides a convenient and cost-effective alternative to many of the country's larger boatyards. Whether you're operating a commercial vessel, launching a recreational trailer boat or planning a major engine repower, Kōpū offers a complete range of marine services in one location.

Designed for Commercial and Recreational Vessels
The Kōpū Marine Precinct has been purpose-built to support both commercial operators and recreational boat owners. The facility combines modern haul-out infrastructure with specialist marine trades, allowing vessels to complete everything from routine maintenance through to full refits without moving between multiple contractors.
The precinct features a haul-out slip capable of handling vessels up to 100 tonnes, making it an excellent option for larger vessels that cannot be lifted by a conventional travel lift. For many operators, this also makes Kōpū a more economical solution for scheduled maintenance and major repair work.
An all-tide commercial wharf provides easy access for vessels requiring servicing while remaining in the water. This is particularly valuable for commercial operators, where minimising downtime is essential. Most vessels can access the precinct at all stages of the tide, with only deeper keel vessels occasionally needing to time their arrival with a rising tide.
For recreational boat owners, the precinct also offers a public boat ramp with ample vehicle and trailer parking, making it a convenient launching point for exploring the Firth of Thames, Coromandel Peninsula and Hauraki Gulf.

A Complete Range of Marine Services
One of the greatest strengths of the Kōpū Marine Precinct is the concentration of specialist marine businesses operating from a single location. Rather than coordinating multiple contractors across different sites, vessel owners can access a comprehensive range of marine trades within the precinct.

The Location
The Kōpū Marine Precinct is strategically located in Kōpū, Waikato, at the southern end of the Firth of Thames. Its central location makes it easily accessible for both recreational and commercial vessels operating throughout the Hauraki Gulf, Coromandel Peninsula and the upper North Island. By sea, the precinct is approximately 50 nautical miles from Auckland, making it an ideal destination for vessels requiring haul-out, refit or major engineering work without the congestion and higher costs often associated with larger city boatyards.
By road, the precinct is around 1.5 hours from central Auckland, 1 hour from Hamilton, 1 hour 45 minutes from Tauranga, and less than an hour from many of the Coromandel Peninsula's popular boating destinations, including Whangamatā, Tairua and Whitianga. Located adjacent to State Highway 25 and the Waihou River, the Kōpū Marine Precinct offers convenient access for vessel owners, contractors and suppliers, making it one of New Zealand's most accessible one-stop destinations for marine servicing, repairs and refit projects.
