Omahu – Driveline and systems installation

Marine Power Systems provided engineering support to install the main engines, driveline and auxiliary systems onboard the Roger Hill designed power cat, Omahu.

Working alongside our colleagues at Lifestyle Yachts, Marine Power Systems installed the Yanmar 6LY400 main engines and used laser alignment procedures to align the struts, stern tubes and gearbox to an accuracy of a few hundredths of a millimeter.

Other systems followed included a Fisher Panda generator, Hydrive hydraulic steering system, a watermaker and domestic water system.

Omahu was launched from the Kopu Marine Precinct in Nov 2021 and proceeded on builders sea trials. The overall performance exceeded expectations with an impressive top speed of 26 knots and comfortable cruise at 20 knots.

After several days of putting the boat through its paces, Omahu was delivered to its new home in Westhaven Marina where it can often be seen cruising the clear blue waters of the Hauraki Gulf and Great Barrier Island.

Marine Power Systems provide systems installation for new build and refit vessels. With workshops in the Kopu Marine Precinct and Whangamata Marina we cater for customers both around the peninsular and from the wider regions of Auckland and Tauranga.
