Lightning Series

Price range: $6057.19 through $12274.46

The Humphree Lightning Series delivers high-speed electric trim technology designed for fast, precise control in New Zealand’s demanding marine conditions. Engineered in Sweden, the Lightning Series uses advanced electric interceptors to optimise vessel trim in real time, improving ride comfort, performance and fuel efficiency.

The Humphree Lightning Series offers ultra-fast response, reduced drag and low-maintenance operation compared to traditional trim tabs. The system automatically adapts to changing sea states, load conditions and speeds—providing greater stability, improved visibility and a smoother ride offshore or along the coast.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What if I purchase the Cruise Package and later want to upgrade to the Ultimate Package?
A: You do not need to necessarily choose an auto package at the time of purchase. The system can be upgraded at any time simply by paying the difference. For a limited time, we can also arrange free trials of the Ultimate package so you can make an informed decision whether it is right for you.

Q: What is the benefit of CoordinatedTurn?
A: It improves both the comfort and the turning performance of any boat. It is a benefit that you can adjust the desired gain for different speeds in a menu because then the driver always get the exact same effect every time turning with the boat. As we use the rudder signal as input we are robust against disturbances from waves, compared to the competitors who don’t use the rudder input.

Q: What is Smart Pitch?
A: The pitch control has a wave detection that can identify when the boat is driving in choppy head sea, and if it is the smart pitch calculates an additional interceptor deployment that is added to the deployment from AutoTrim.  The effect of this is that the bow is trimmed down a little bit more than usual, which is the same thing that an experienced captain would have done manually in a sea condition like this.

Q: So what is the normal Pitch control then?
A: In all other sea conditions than choppy head sea the interceptors deploy when the bow rises in a wave and retracts when the bow is diving into a wave. The most effective pitch control is achieved when the interceptors are already deployed a bit by the AutoTrim, so pitch control can work plus/minus “around” the autotrim.

Q: What is Driver intention recognition?
A: It is an algorithm that detects that the boat is in a turn but that the driver is about to end the turn and go to a straight course. By reactivating AutoList as early as possible at the end of the turn, the interceptors can compensate for the new wind direction without any delay after the turn. Without this feature, the boat will usually list for a few seconds before AutoList has made its compensation of the interceptors after the turn.

Q: What is True turn compensation?
A: It allows the boat to bank naturally in wide turns. Without this feature AutoList is trying to achieve a list angle of zero until a turn detect occurs which usually feels a bit unnatural. The effect of this function can be adjusted in a menu to achieve the feeling that the boat builder or driver prefer.

Q: Do you offer installation services?
A: Yes we do. Trailer boats can be retrofitted at our main Kopu workshop whilst larger boats can be hauled out at either Kopu Marine Precinct (Western Coromandel, Auckland based vessels) or Whangamata Marina (Eastern Coromandel, Tauranga boats).
