Megayacht Yas (Project Swift 141)

Constructed in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Yas is a 141m megayacht built from the hull of an ex dutch frigate. The uniqueness of Yas makes her one of the most interesting and admired yachts in the world. Marine Power Systems were proud to provide commissioning services for the 16,000kW propulsion drive system, enabling the yacht to successfully complete sea trials prior to hand over the her new owner. Main engines consist of 2 MTU 8000, 20 cylinder engines, and the ‘original’ re-worked gearbox built by Damen Schelde in the Netherlands. Wartsila provide the shaft line and Controllable Pitch Propeller systems.

It was the role of Marine Power Systems Ltd to ensure that machinery and systems integrated with each other and that the plant was commissioned in a safe and professional manner. Over the course of 6 months, this was one of the most challenging yet rewarding jobs that we have undertaken.
